“America’s Sports Car” will be the talk of the town when the Amish Door Village hosts its third annual Corvette Show on Aug. 6. Sponsored by the Buckeye Corvette Club, the show is a National Council of Corvette Clubs-sanctioned event.

Registration is $20 per car and will run from 9 a.m. to noon with the show open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Awards will be given in six People’s Choice categories per NCCC rules starting at 3 p.m., and all registrants are eligible to win a door prize from BCC.

“Even though this is a NCCC show, all Corvettes are welcome to enter,” said Susan Mattingly, competition director for the BCC. “We will also have a 50/50 drawing and a raffle with the grand prize being a two-night stay at the Amish Door, a $100 gift card and a Taste of Ohio’s Amish Country gift basket.”

Mattingly said proceeds from the show benefit local charities. “We are donating to four for the month of August,” she said. “Those are Kisses from Heaven, Christian Children’s Home of Ohio, Wishes Can Happen and Aultman Hospice.”

Tickets for the charity raffle are $5 each or five for $20 and will be available at the entrance to the Amish Door Restaurant that day.

Music during the show will be provided by Hitchcock Sound Company of New Philadelphia. Katy Gill, marketing coordinator for the Amish Door Village, said there will be plenty to take in that day in addition to the Corvettes.

“We will have an outdoor marketplace going on from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., so we’ll have 20-plus vendors onsite featuring quality handcrafted and homemade items,” she said.

Later that day, Gill said the Amish Door Restaurant will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry on the Sunset Patios beginning at 6 p.m. “Those who want to make a full day of it can stay after the show for all-you-can-eat Lake Erie perch, broiled chicken breast, breaded shrimp, hush puppies, steak fries, coleslaw and dessert,” she said.

Tickets for the dinner are $29.99 for adults and $14.99 for kids age 13 and under.
