The Dover American Legion Post 205 is selling tickets for a $400 Buehler’s gift certificate. Tickets are $1 or six for $5.

Two-hundred books have been printed, and the proceeds will be split between the Jack Reese Scholarship and post general funds. Post members will sell tickets at the Dover Buehler’s on Saturday, July 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Veterans Memorial in the town square is beginning to come together. The landscaping, flowers and the walkway are complete. All are welcome to stop by and take a look.

A dedication will be held before the weather changes, depending on completion and a delivery date.

Shawn Jackson, who recently returned from deployment in Africa and is a Post 205 member, presented a flag and plaque to the post. The flag flew during a mission. The plaque reads as follows:

“This certifies that the accompanied flag was flown in combat over Horn of Africa in support of Operations OCDIVE SHIELD and OCTAVE QUARTZ on March 24, 2022, aboard a mighty C-130H aircraft, assigned to the 449th Air Expeditionary Group, Camp Lemonnier, Djubouti. The flag represents the will and resolve of the American people to stand strong and defeat all who attempt to do us harm.”

Two members, two guests and four officers attended this monthly meeting. New members are needed to attend meetings to help keep the group active. Meetings last less than an hour. The next meeting will be Aug. 1 at 7 p.m. at Dover Memorial Hall.
