When it comes to developing personal growth through basic faith principles, Love In the Name of Christ of Greater Holmes County is ready to walk hand in hand with those who wish to gain greater peace, learn how to better organize their life or simply want to join the shared experience of people working through today’s issues.

Love In the Name of Christ of Greater Holmes County has released its slate of Fresh Start fall classes, which are designed to educate, inspire and guide people through challenging parts of life.

Some old classics and some new options will be available for those wishing to grow as individuals, a couple or as a family. Classes will be held Monday evenings at Martins Creek Mennonite Church.

According to Vicki Conn, Love INC executive director, the idea is to invite people to the table to taste and see that the Lord is good.

Faith & Finances is a 12-week class from Sept. 19 through Dec. 5. The evenings will include a meal and fellowship beginning at 5:30 p.m. and class from 7-8 p.m. Facilitators will be John and Barb Knapp.

According to Conn, the group will eat, laugh and share their struggles together as they learn to overcome obstacles, set financial goals, make spending plans, manage debt and loans and more.

“It is a curriculum that encourages us to consider God’s plans for our money, resources and financial situations,” Conn said.

Affirming Potential is a 12-week class that will take place Mondays from Sept. 19 to Dec. 5 from 7-8 p.m. with facilitator Debbi Miller. This class evaluates physical, emotional, relational and spiritual areas of a person’s life.

“It builds on the foundation that God has created us with essential worth and unique potential with a purpose in mind,” Conn said.

Participants will learn to dream for the future, set goals and create steps to achieve those goals. Childcare will be provided.

New this fall is “Life Lessons from Acts” by Max Lucado. This 12-week class will take place Mondays, Sept. 19 to Dec. 5 from 7-8 p.m. This study will bring to life the Book of Acts, presenting questions, stories and reflection. Lucado’s book walks through Acts to show how God’s word can help people deal with today’s struggles.

Another Lucado book, “Anxious for Nothing,” will highlight another new Fresh Start class. This six-week class will take place Mondays from Sept. 19 to Oct. 24, facilitated by Sarah Wilson. The class will delve into the presence of anxiety in people today and how it can imprison people if they allow it to do so. This study is based off Philippians 4:6-7, one of the most highlighted passages in the Bible.

“A goal here at Love INC of GHC is to equip volunteers to serve in the name of Christ,” Conn said. “We invite anyone who desires a deeper commitment to faith or who is struggling with some of these feelings to join us as we walk together.”
